Allowing you to continue the active lifestyle you love

What is Sports Therapy?

You may have heard the term Physiotherapist or Physio but you may not have come across Sports Therapist. Sports Therapy is an aspect of healthcare that is specifically concerned with the prevention of injury and the rehabilitation of the patient back to optimum levels of functional, occupational and sports specific fitness, regardless of age and ability.

Trained to graduate level, Sports Therapists have to complete continued professional development which is monitored by the Society of Sport Therapists. This ensures all users of Sports Therapy receive a high standard of care. You will often see Sports Therapists working in a variety of sports as well as private practice.

Is it for me?

If you are an athlete looking to get back into the team, a fair-weather cyclist, or a mum in need of a relaxing massage, a Sports Therapist can help.

Conditions commonly treated include

Muscle strains, Ligament sprains, Tendon injuries, Shoulder injuries, Golfer/tennis elbow, Runners knee, Sciatica, Plantar fascitis and Ante/post natal problems.

Treatment includes:

Massage, Joint mobilisations, Taping and Stretching

You are also advised on posture and provided with a home exercise programme to ensure you have the tools to help yourself.

'There is no greater satisfaction than seeing someone achieve soemthing they didnt think they could '

Sue, Sports Coach

Bridget has exceptional knowledge; explaining what she is doing and why, so I have a better understanding of my injuries. She has given me continued support and guidance, which has allowed me to compete my first half marathon injury free.

Mark, Athlete

I went to Bridget with knee pain which I thought was just wear and tear. After a thorough examination Bridget quickly identified the problem. I was given exercises which were modified as my condition improved. I was soon able  to return to cycling, skiing and gym. I would highly recommend her.

Corinne, Teacher

I am a primary school teacher and was unable to work due to Sciatica which caused me a lot of lower back pain. After three massage treatments I was able to return to work.
